2006 Buick LaCrosse Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2006 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Before you start work lift the vehicle and position supports under it. Take the wheel and tire set off from the back of the vehicle. Before starting seal the exposed brake pipe fitting end with rubber materials to stop brake fluid loss and contamination. Secure the brake pipe hose with a back up wrench before disconnecting it from the brake hose. Once disconnected cap or plug the pipe end but keep the pipe and bracket straight. Use your fingers to remove the retaining clip from its bracket and pull the hose off its bracket. Separate the brake caliper bolt and brake hose from each other before removing the brake hose from the vehicle and removing both copper brake hose gaskets. Place the new brake hose in its position inside the vehicle and put new copper brake hose gaskets as well as the brake hose bolt onto the brake hose . Keep the brake caliper stable as you tighten the brake hose to caliper bolt to 54 nm (40 ft. Lbs.). Place the suspension compressed brake hose into the bracket as you adjust it until it shows no bends while lining up the hose fitting with its notch through the stripe. Put the retainer on to the bracket hose fitting then detach the rubber cap or plug to join the brake hose with the brake pipe using a back up wrench. Tighten them first to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs) then to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs). Use the caliper backplate screws to reinstall the replacement wheel and tire while keeping the hose away from suspension parts. If the hose makes contact, replace it after fixng the installation issue. Take the last step by draining the hydraulic brake system before lowering the vehicle.
