To access the Catalytic Converter the first step is to remove the nuts between the converter and right Exhaust Manifold. Begin by removing all heat shield bolts before separating the shield from the Exhaust Manifold and then removing the Exhaust Manifold bolts and the manifold and old gasket while discarding the latter. Tighten the new bolts first to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) by starting from the two center bolts before alternating between the left and right sides then finish tightening at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) following the same pattern of left-right-left-right. After reinstalling the heat shield with bolts which need to be tightened up to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.), use a flat punch to bend over the exposed gasket edge at the right Cylinder Head front facing Exhaust Manifold.
