2007 Buick Rainier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the exhaust manifold on a 4.2L engine on 2007 Buick Rainier?
A: The first step for replacing the Exhaust Manifold on a 4.2l engine requires vehicle elevation. The first step involves descending the vehicle after you remove its Exhaust Pipe bolts from the Exhaust Manifold. Begin the replacement by removing the manifold heat shield followed by unbolted and removal of Exhaust Manifold bolts before extracting the Exhaust Manifold assembly including the Exhaust Manifold Gasket. The installation process begins with fitting an Exhaust Manifold Gasket before you can secure the Exhaust Manifold onto its position. Apply threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) on the manifold bolts before fastening them to their receptacles on the manifold. The technician should tighten the Exhaust Manifold bolts in order starting with 20 n.m (15 lb.ft) for the first bolt followed by the second bolt and then finishing with the final bolt. Fasten the Exhaust Manifold heat shield studs and secure them using a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reinstall the manifold heat shield and follow by raising the vehicle after which attach the Exhaust Pipe to the manifold using a seal before securing the nuts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque setting and lowering the vehicle.
