2006 Buick Terraza Brake Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake disc on 2006 Buick Terraza?
A: To replace the rear Brake Disc, first lift and support the vehicle. Follow it up by removing the tire and wheel assembly. Use heavy mechanic's wire to support the brake caliper so as to avoid spoiling the hydraulic flexible brake hose when removal caliper bracket bolts. Next, remove the brake caliper and caliper mounting bracket assembly from the suspension knuckle, not putting any pressure on the hydraulic brake flexible hose. Take off the Brake Disc retaining screw and then the Brake Disc, remove it off rotating it gently if necessary. Remove any rust or contaminants from the hub/axle flange and Brake Disc mating surfaces using wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and the rotor resurfacing kit, (J 41013). Check the mating surfaces for any foreign matter or debris prior to fitting the new Brake Disc on the hub / axle flange. Mount the Brake Disc retaining screw and tighten it to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). If the Brake Disc was removed while working out on a brake system repair, then it would be wise to determine the assembled lateral run out (LRO) and do so to ensure optimal disc brake performance. If the lro is above the specification, adjust it appropriately. Finally, install the brake caliper and the caliper bracket assembly on the suspension knuckle, and install a tire and wheel assembly, and lower the vehicle down and burnish the pads and discs as applicable.
