2007 Buick Terraza Brake Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake disc on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: In order to change the rear Brake Disc one has to raise and support the car, next, take the tire and wheel assembly. Eliminate the brake caliper from its mount using heavy mechanic wire or some equivalent for support if it is detached from its mount with the hydraulic flexible brake hose still attached to protect against damage. Next, unbolt the caliper bracket and take off the brake caliper with the caliper mounting bracket as a unit from the suspension knuckle such that there is no tension on the hydraulic brake flexible hose. Take the Brake Disc retaining screw and the disc off. If it is hard to remove, slowly twist the needle while pulling it out. Before installation it is time to remove any rusts or contaminations from the hub/axle flange and Brake Disc mating surfaces. This should be done by using the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J.42450-A) and the disc resurfacing kit (J.41013). Check the mating surfaces from extraneous foreign object or debris before fitting onto the hub/axle flange and secure with the Brake Disc retaining screw tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). If the Brake Disc was a part of brake system repair measure the assembled lateral runout (LRO) to ensure maximum performance of the disc brake adjusting as needed. Lastly, re-assemble the brake caliper and bracket assembly to the suspension knuckle, replace the tire and wheel assembly back on, lower the vehicle, and burnish the brake pads and discs would likely be required if the Brake Disc had been refinished or replaced.
