2007 Buick Terraza Brake Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads (J65, JL9) on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: Before beginning work on rear disc brake pads j65/jl9 you must check the brake master cylinder fluid level. Drain fluid to match the resting point at the center of the visible range when the level exceeds this mark. Lift your car and take out the tire and wheel unit together. Unfasten the Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) wire from the Control Arm and take out both caliper top and base bolts. Use mechanic wire to hang up the brake caliper safely and prevent damaging the hydraulic brake hose during removal. Pull the caliper directly off its bracket attachment and store it aside from the hose. Take off both sets of brake pads from the brake caliper attachment point. Check Brake Pad bracket rubber seals before cleaning brake hardware contact points. Also test Brake Pad clips and examine the piston boot for destruction. Turn the brake caliper spanner tool (Mac(R) tools dbc 25 c2500 ma disc brake caliper tool set, or its equivalent) clockwise to push the piston back into its bore unit it reaches a stopping point. Place the piston indents over the pin on the back of the inboard brake pads and put the Brake Pad retainers into their slots in the caliper bracket. Hold the brake pads in place while fitting the cylinder first at its center position and then fitting the outer pad. Make sure the sensor-equipped pad goes to the inboard alignment. Secure the caliper onto its bracket and check the guide boots for damage before installing and tightening the bolts to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Secure the wss harness on its location after placing the tire and wheel assembly back in their position then lower the vehicle. Slowly push the brake pedal to reach 2/3 of its range while the engine is off and let it return to its original position. Apply the brake pedal for 15 seconds then stop while repeating this action until the pedal feels strong which helps align brake pads and pistons. End the process by filling the brake fluid reservoir to the correct amount and letting the brake system components come into contact with each other.
