2007 Buick Terraza Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on disc brakes on 2007 Buick Terraza?
A: A technician should start by lifting and securing a vehicle before removing its tire and wheel unit to replace rear brake hoses on disc brakes. Before moving forward clean the brake hose and brake pipe fittings from any debris before installing a rubber cap to cover the exposed brake pipe fitting and stop fluid drainage and contamination. You should use a back up wrench to disconnect the brake pipe from the brake hose while preventing any bending of the brake pipe itself or the bracket. Start by removing the brake hose retainer clip from the brake hose mounting bracket before taking out the brake hose from the bracket along with both the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper to allow removal of the brake hose from that caliper. Throw out both brake hose gaskets made of copper since they tend to adhere to calipers or tubes. Place a plug of rubber inside the caliper brake hose bolt hole to stop fluid loss. Before installing a brake hose to a caliper the rubber plug must be removed but the installation requires new copper gaskets for the brake hose. Bolt the brake hose together with new gaskets before installing it to the brake caliper, securing it to 43 n.m (32 lb ft). Make sure the hose maintains proper alignment with the bracket notch through use of the hose stripe markings. Put the brake hose onto the bracket before locking it in place using the retainer clip. Use a back up wrench to join the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose by tightening it to 21 n.m (15 lb ft) torque. Perform the brake system bleed then place back the tire and wheel component before lowering the vehicle.
