    Q:
How to replace the front brake pads on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
Inspect the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level before starting. Drain fluid from the tank until the mark reaches the midpoint between the highest and lowest operating ranges. Lift the vehicle and take off the wheel after your support. Secure the rotor with wheel nuts before applying a c-clamp on top of the brake caliper and tightening until the piston moves into the bore so the caliper can slide away from the rotor. Support the brake caliper by using mechanic's wire while keeping the hydraulic flexible hose safe. Uninstall the c-clamp along with the brake caliper guide. Rise the brake caliper to see the brake pads. Remove both pads with the retaining screws from the bracket base. Before pressing the piston use wood or the old Brake Pad to block the bore between the c-clamp and Brake Caliper Piston to shield from damage. Then press the piston to bottom using the c-clamp. Check the brake caliper guide pin boots alongside the Brake Caliper Piston boot for tearing, cracking, leakage, or weakening so you can switch out defective parts right away. Look at the brake caliper guide pins for damage then replace them with fresh sections when needed. Wipe off the boot surface with denatured alcohol before adding replacement brake pads and push the piston into position using a c-clamp while shielding it with a block. Fit the two Brake Pad retainers onto the caliper bracket so that the wear sensor stays behind the outer pad during forward wheel motion before placing the brake pads on top of them. Use high temperature brake silicone lube to lubricate the guide pin and boot of the caliper system before placing the caliper pads. Tighten the lower caliper guide pin to 54 nm using a torque wrench after it fits on the brake pads. Replace the two rotor wheel nuts, put on the wheel and tire, make the vehicle sit lower, and supply new brake fluid to reach the right amount. Brake the pedal most of the way until it stays firm enough to work with before finishing the pad and rotor surfaces.

    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on Chevrolet Uplander? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on front disc brake pads check the brake master cylinder fluid level. Draw out brake fluid from the reservoir until the level reaches halfway point between two marks. Lift the vehicle with support stands and take off the wheel and tire unit. Place two wheel nuts securely over the rotor before tightening a c-clamp from above the brake caliper toward its rear until the piston in the brake bore pushes the caliper off the rotor. Support the brake caliper with mechanic wire when you take out its lower guide pin and c-clamp to avoid damaging the hydraulic brake hose. Pull up the brake caliper to view the brake pads and take out all pads plus retainers from their bracket position. Stack a piece of wood or the used Brake Pad between the piston and c-clamp to defend the hardware. Afterwards compress the piston completely into the opening using the c-clamp. Check the brake caliper guide pin boots and Brake Caliper Piston boot for damage such as cuts, tears, or deterioration and replace parts that need replacement. Use denatured alcohol to clean the outside surface of the Brake Pad caliper boot before placing the new brake pads. Attach the two Brake Pad retainers to the caliper bracket. Position the wear sensor most effective on the trailing edge of the outer pad. Press the brake pads into place on the retainers and bracket of the caliper while applying high temp brake silicone lube between the caliper guide pin and boot. Fit and torque the bottom caliper guide pin to 54 n.m (40 lb ft) torque value. Use a jack to lift the vehicle, take away wheel nuts holding the rotor, put the tire and wheel on the car, lower it back down, and replace brake fluid up to the proper mark with fresh fluid. Press the Brake Pedal to its 3/4 stop position when setting the pad pressure correctly before you smooth off the Brake Pad surface and rotor finish.
