    Q:
How to replace the front brake calipers on Chevrolet Uplander? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to check brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level before starting to replace the front brake caliper. Start draining brake fluid from the reservoir when the fluid level sits between maximum-full and minimum limits until it hits the midway point. Before work start raise the vehicle and disconnect the wheel before you continue. Secure the rotor to the hub by placing two wheel lug nuts. A large c-clamp should be placed over the top of the brake caliper to push the piston into the caliper bore when you tighten the clamp against the back of the outboard Brake Pad. The brake caliper requires both brake hose bolts and assembly to be pulled off with copper gaskets removed for disposal. Seal both brake caliper and brake hose openings to avoid fluid leaks while cleaning the nearby brake hose fitting area. Separate the brake caliper bolts and remove the unit from its bracket position. Replace the brake caliper pin boots when you detect any damage to their cut, tear, or wear state. In case the caliper pin boot fails we must inspect the caliper pins for rust or breaks while replacing both parts at once. Install the caliper first by putting the booted caliper bolt onto its designated spot and fix the caliper onto the caliper bracket slot. Afterwards, tighten the brake caliper bolts to 54 n.m (40 lb ft). Install fresh copper brake hose gaskets on the brake hose end and bolt then tighten the bolt to 54 n.m (40 lb ft). Install tire and wheel while you take away the rotor nuts from the hub. Then put the car back down. Replenish brake fluid into the master cylinder until it reaches the right level and run the brake lines of air to make them leak-free. Measure hydraulic force with the j 28662 Brake Pedal gage for 10 seconds and check all brake components afterward using the j 28662 device.
