2005 Buick Terraza Brake Calipers Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake calipers on 2005 Buick Terraza?
A: Before replacing the front brake caliper you should check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Drain some fluid until it reaches the midway point between the maximum and minimum levels. Lift the vehicle and place support stands underneath. Uninstall the tire and wheel while also installing some brake wheel nuts to the hub. Position a strong c-clamp on top of the brake caliper and push the piston towards the bore until you can pull the caliper off the rotor. Use big c-clamp to push Brake Caliper Piston down as you tighten the device against Brake Pad backing until you can remove the brake caliper from its rotor position. Pull the Brake Caliper Bolt and hose out from the caliper while discarding the possible bonded copper brake hose gaskets stuck at each end. Seal the base and delivery ports of the brake caliper and hose while cleaning around their attachment points. Take off the brake caliper from its bracket by removing the bolts and inspect the brake caliper pin boots for damage. Replace damaged boots and examine the caliper pins for corrosion. Replace pins if needed. Tap the caliper bolt boots correctly before fixing the caliper to the caliper bracket. Affix the caliper bolts tightly at 54 nm (40 ft. Lbs.). Plug the removed brake hose seat before setting steel gaskets onto the brake hose and fastening the new bolt following 54 nm (40 ft. Lbs.) torque settings. Replace the rotor hub nuts first before adding the tire and wheel and lowering the vehicle. Top up the master cylinder to the right level and correctly bleed the entire brake system. Afterwards press the brake pedal with 778 nm force (175 ft. Lbs.) for ten seconds to check for leaks in the caliper assembly and hydraulic system.
