  • Q: How to replace the rear brake calipers on 2008 Chevrolet Uplander?
    A: First measure the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and drain fluid until it reaches the middle of the reservoir space. Prop the car to jack it up properly and take out the tire and wheel components together. Let pressure escape from the park brake system parts at the equalizer before disconnecting the front and rear cables from their connector clip. Unplug the park brake cable from the Brake Pad lever on the brake caliper and take it off the supporting holder. Separate the Brake Caliper Bolt from the brake hose to detach the brake hose from the caliper. Also discard the 2 copper brake hose gaskets when you take them out. Use plugs to prevent fluid loss through the brake caliper and brake hose ports before taking out the brake caliper bolts and the full brake caliper assembly. To install place the pin on the Brake Pad into the designated piston indents and inspect the bracket bolt guide set along with Brake Pad accessories for swap out parts. Provide the brake caliper to its bracket location. Check the guide boots not to be harmed before using a torque wrench at 34 n.m (25 lb ft) to tighten the brake caliper bolts. Insert new brake hose copper gaskets in the plugs of each side and install the gaskets at both ends of the brake hose. Lock the bolt and new gaskets in place with the brake hose. Tighten the bolt to 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Wake up the park brake cable with the park brake bracket at the caliper and attach it to the brake lever carefully routing it through and leaving 1.27cm (half inch) space between the drive shafts and parking brake retaining straps. Install the park brake cable routing bracket if you removed it and then bleed the brake system. You should press the Brake Pedal to two-thirds of its travel while keeping the engine turned off. Release pressure gradually three times before the Brake Pedal regains its firmness to seat brake caliper components. Complete the process with park brake system adjustment before adding wheel components while returning the vehicle to ground.
