2008 Chevrolet Uplander Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads (J65, JL9) on 2008 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: Before starting work on the rear disc Brake Pad replacement, check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. Reduce fluid if the level stands above the middle point between max and min limits. Position the vehicle on jack stands and take off both the tire and wheel elements. Use mechanic wire to support the brake caliper while you unscrew both lower and upper caliper bolts without harming the brake hose. Put the caliper aside by taking it off the bracket directly without touching the hydraulic line attachment. Take off the Brake Pad pieces from inside and outside of the brake caliper bracket. Look for brake caliper guide pin seals that show damage and replace them right away. Wipe the Brake Pad hardware contact areas on the caliper bracket then test the Brake Pad hold-down clips for corrosion and replace them if necessary. Check the brake piston boot condition and replaceamaged sections now. Thread the brake caliper tool (Mac(R) tools dbc 25 c 2500 ma disc brake caliper tool set or equivalent) clockwise into the brake caliper bore until it meets its maximum position. Insert the indents of the piston face onto the pin behind the brake pads before installing the Brake Pad retainers into the brake caliper bracket. Mount the brake pads onto their respective positions and keep the pad with the metallic sensor on the inboard side of the components. Use the caliper to place it on the bracket first and then check the guide boots. Insert and tighten the brake caliper bolts at 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Replace the wheel assembly followed by lowering the vehicle. Then apply the Brake Pedal gently to 2/3 of its distance when the engine stays off. Let the Brake Pedal rest for 15 seconds then repeat the task until it feels stable to seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads correctly. Top off brake fluid then have the brakes run-in to make sure the wearing surfaces contact properly.
