2008 Chevrolet Uplander Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake disc on 2008 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: To replace the front Brake Disc, you should first lift the car and support it. Take off the tire and wheel assembly. Mount a c-clamp onto the body of brake caliper, with the extremes contacting the rear of caliper body and the outboard disc Brake Pad, and compress the Piston of the caliper into the caliper bore enough to enable the caliper to slide clear of the disc. Remove the c-clamp and the brake caliper will be supported by heavy mechanic wire or equivalent so as not to damage the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Next, unscrew the caliper bracket bolts without removing the brake flexible hose bolt and remove the brake caliper and the caliper mounting bracket as a unit, from the suspension knuckle, ensuring that there is no tension of the hydraulic brake flexible hose. Remove the screw retaining, then the Brake Disc. If any rust or contaminant is present on the hub/axle flange, clean it using the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A), for the Brake Disc using the rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013). Examine the mating surface to remove from debris before mounting the Brake Disc onto the hub/axle flange. If necessary, check the assembled lateral runout (LRO) of the Brake Disc and adjust if over the specifications. Mount the Brake Disc and the retaining screw, and tighten it to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Refit the brake caliper and the Brake Caliper Bracket as a unit onto the suspension knuckle, and fit the tire and wheel assembly. Lastly, lower the vehicle and, in case the Brake Disc was refinished or replaced, burnish the pads and discs.
