2008 Chevrolet Uplander Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on disc brakes on 2008 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: First: lift and support the vehicle, and remove the tire and wheel assembly in order to replace the rear brake hose on disc brakes. Before proceeding, clean out all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose and brake pipe fittings prior to plugging with a rubber cap or plug the exposed brake pipe fitting end of the brake pipe to prevent any leaks of brake fluid and contamination. Apply a back up wrench to the hose fitting in order to disconnect the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose and cap or plug the end of the brake pipe fitting afterwards. Carefully pull off the brake hose retainer clip from the brake hose mounting bracket and then pull off the brake hose from the bracket and remove the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper before removing the brake hose from the brake caliper. Replace the two copper brake hose gaskets that can be stuck on the brake caliper or on the brake hose end right in the brake hose bolt hole of the brake caliper with a rubber plug so that there is no loss of fluid. For the installation, hence remove the rubber plug of the brake caliper and ensure to use new copper brake hose gaskets. Mount the brake hose bolt complete with the new gaskets onto the brake hose and install the bolt onto the brake caliper, tightening the bolt with 43 n.m (32 lb ft). Make sure the brake hose does not twist or kink and align with the notch of the brake hose bracket in the stripe of the hose. Mount the brake hose to the bracket and hold it using the retainer clip. Remove the rubber cap or plug off the brake pipe fitting end and attach it to the brake hose using a back up wrench, ensuring not to bend the bracket or pipe, and tighten to a torque of 21 n.m (15 lb ft). Finally, bleed the brake system, install the tire and assembly, and lower the vehicle.
