2006 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the hydraulic brake booster on 2006 Cadillac DTS?
A: The first step to replace the hydraulic Brake Booster involves disconnecting the negative cable from the battery while positioning the vehicle on flat ground with blocking wheels and activated parking brake. First disconnect the inlet hose for power steering and the pressure hose together with the gear to booster hose. Extract first the master cylinder along with the wiring harness bracket together with the spacer from the booster assembly. Start by detaching the left closeout insulator panel with the left knee bolster before removing the vacuum Brake Booster retainer clip and foam spacer from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Loosen the mounting nuts attaching the vacuum Brake Booster then remove it from the car by disconnecting its push rod from the clevis pin. You should change the vacuum Brake Booster mounting gasket when needed. Apply the vacuum Brake Booster mounting gasket onto the booster assembly before installing its mounting hardware. Fasten the Brake Pedal assembly to booster stud mounting nuts with 36 nm torque (27 ft. Lbs.). The Brake Pedal assembly receives a small amount of gm p/n 12346293 equivalent lubricant before the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod connects to the Brake Pedal clevis pin through installation of foam spacer with retaining clip. Begin by setting back the left knee bolster and left closeout insulator panel and afterward install the booster spacer and wiring harness bracket. Install the master cylinder onto the booster assembly followed by reattachment of the power steering pressure hose alongside power steering gear to booster hose and power steering inlet hose. The process ends by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable and performing hydraulic booster system bleeding then brake position sensor recalibration followed by front wheel block removal and parking brake release.
