2007 Cadillac DTS Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Cadillac DTS?
A: Fitting a new vacuum Brake Booster starts with parking the vehicle on level ground and blocking its front wheels. Activate the parking brake and work on a stable surface. Position the gear shift in its lowest setting then take out the air cleaner unit. Twist off the fuel vapor lines that run in front of the Brake Booster using proper procedures for plastic or metal connections. You can detach the master cylinder from the Brake Booster by moving it forward and off the filler studs. Keep the brake pipes undamaged during this process. The Brake Booster gets detached from its master cylinder connection while you separate the shift control from its bracket and remove the vacuum check valve link. Unfasten the inlet heater pipe from its positions on the transmission bracket, left closeout insulator panel, and left knee bolster. Lowering the Steering Column and securing it lets you remove the left lower Brake Pedal to vacuum Brake Booster mounting nuts. Pull off the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod retaining clip along with its foam spacer from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Proceed to detach the Brake Booster pushrod from its position on the clevis pin. Lift the vehicle and position jack stands under the front frame after taking off vacuum Brake Booster mounting nuts from the Brake Pedal assembly. Adjust the left frame body bolts to raise the left side frame around 2 to 3 inches and make space for the Brake Booster uninstall. When working on the vacuum Brake Booster remove it from position but keep the gasket unless it shows signs of damage. Reinstall the vacuum Brake Booster when you put the booster back into the car after adding its mounting gasket if removed. Lower your vehicle down onto the undersides of the engine frame and take away the jack stands. Fasten the Brake Pedal assembly to booster's stud mounting nuts and tighten them to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Push the clevis pin into the Brake Pedal and connect the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod to it while using gm p/n 12346293 or equivalent lubricant. Reinstall the foam spacer and retainerclip in place. Put back the Steering Column and secure its mounting nuts before placing the left knee bolster and left closeout insulator panel. Install the shift control cable back into place on its bracket and connect the inlet heater pipe before placing the gearshift lever into the park position. Mount the Brake Booster vacuum check valve to the vacuum Brake Booster assembly before you reattach the fuel vapor lines with the right connector service. Take away the wheelblocks from the front tires then let go of the parking brake.
