2007 Cadillac DTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the hydraulic brake booster on 2007 Cadillac DTS?
A: Begin by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery after placing the vehicle on a level surface with blocked wheels and engaged parking brake. Begin by disconnecting the inlet hose for power steering and pressure hoses with the gear to booster hose while also removing the master cylinder along with the wiring harness bracket. You should first remove the spacer from the booster assembly followed by taking out the left closeout insulator panel and the left knee bolster. Unfasten the vacuum Brake Booster retaining clip and foam spacer on the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Disconnect the clevis pin from the push rod. To remove the vacuum Brake Booster you must first uninstall its mounting nuts then extract the booster and its gasket when replacement becomes necessary. Installation begins by placing the new vacuum Brake Booster mounting gasket on the booster where you then install the vacuum Brake Booster assembly. Tighten the Brake Pedal assembly to the booster stud mounting nuts at a torque value of 36 n.m (27 lb ft). To install the Brake Pedal connect the clevis pin to the vacuum Brake Booster pushrod after applying gm p/n 12346293 or equivalent lubricant. Begin by reinstalling the left knee bolster and left closeout insulator panel. Subsequently install the booster spacer and wiring harness bracket. Connect the master cylinder to the booster assembly and reinstall all power steering hoses including pressure hose, gear-to-booster hose, and inlet hose. Finish by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable then bleed the hydraulic booster system followed by sensor recalibration of the brake position while removing wheel blocks and releasing the parking brake.
