- Q: How to Replace the Right Rear Parking Brake Cable (J55) Using the Parking Brake Cable Release Tool on 2007 Cadillac DTS?A: Raising the vehicle stands as the first step to replace the right rear Parking Brake Cable (J55) the intermediate brake cable function should be used to reduce tension through downward motion followed by detachment from the front brake cable through the rear tab lift. Tear the cable retaining bolt out from the right rear Control Arm and free up the brake cable connection to the connector. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) permits detachment of the park brake cable from its retaining bracket. Push the inner cable towards the front to expose adequate length for removal and remove the cable end at the actuator. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) should be used once more to detach the brake cable from its mounting bracket. The cable end must hook over the park brake actuator arm after cable installation while attaching to the bracket. Insert the brake cable end into the actuator arm and proceed by installing the park brake cable into the retaining bracket. Knot the park cable to the rear Control Arm while using the retaining bolt to fasten it securely at 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Locking tabs must be correctly aligned when you install the park brake cable into the right rear frame bracket while connecting the intermediate cable into the connector. The park brake system automatically adjusts itself so cable adjustments should not be performed before lowering the vehicle.
