- Q: How to replace the left rear parking brake cable (J55) on 2006 Cadillac DTS?A: First securely support the vehicle while working with a raised height before starting to change the left rear parking brake cable (J55). Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly following by drawing down the intermediate park brake cable close to the park brake connector to separate it from the connector. Move on to disconnect the left rear park brake cable both from the equalizer and from the park brake lever . The J37043 tool known as the Parking Brake Cable Release Tool should be used to press and free up the locking tabs on the left brake cable. This action allows the removal of the cable from the caliper bracket and support mounting bracket. You need to install the new left park brake cable onto the park brake cable support bracket where the locking tabs must be properly situated. Fasten the left park brake cable to meet the park brake actuator lever while you fit it inside the left brake caliper park brake cable bracket . Then secure the locking tabs correctly. After installation of the left park brake cable to the equalizer and the intermediate park brake cable to the park brake cable connector you need to reinstall the tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.
