2006 Cadillac STS Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector and fuel rail on 2006 Cadillac STS?
A: The first non-negotiable task when replacing the Fuel Injector and Fuel Rail involves eliminating fuel system pressure. The Fuel Rail assembly needs careful extraction without harming the injector electrical connector terminals as well as the spray tips while supporting the Fuel Rail for protection against damage. The presence of contaminants should be prevented by using fittings caps and hole plugs. Start by removing the front section and the rear section of the supercharger inlet duct assembly after which use compressed air through safety glasses to clean Fuel Rail and injector ports on the supercharger. Disconnect the sciap sensors' electrical connectors together with the baro sensors' connectors as well as the vacuum lines attached to the map and sciap sensors. Deactivate the sciap, baro along with the map sensors by removing their bracket then drain about half of the charge air cooling fluid. The service technician should keep the front manifold fixed to the charge air cooler without unhooking the hoses while setting it to the side. Disconnect the electrical connector from the air inlet temperature 2 sensor together with the supercharger bypass solenoid valve and unplug the vacuum line from the supercharger actuator valve. The technicians detach the engine compartment fuel line fitting from the Fuel Rail by removing the Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 4, 6, 8) on both engine sides. First disconnect and then open the clip that secures the Fuel Rail jumper to the supercharger because you need to take away the Fuel Rail attaching studs before removing the Fuel Rail assembly. Pry out the injector lower o-ring seals from each Fuel Injector before taking out the fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail as well as the retainer clips if needed. Discard all o-ring seals throughout this process. Before mounting the new o-ring seals onto fuel injectors proper lubrication with engine oil is required but care should be taken to prevent any contamination by plugging the rail ports. Attaching new o-ring seals to fuel injectors should be followed by installation of the injectors onto the Fuel Rail through new retainer clips while electric connectors maintain perpendicular alignment to crankshaft centerline. The repair process requires the application of lubrication on new o-ring seals located on the spray tip end of each injector followed by Fuel Injector and Fuel Rail alignment to the supercharger assembly and Fuel Rail assembly pressing until full seat. Tighten the Fuel Rail attaching studs to 10 n.m before fastening the Fuel Rail onto its clip on the supercharger. The procedure includes attaching Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 4, 6, 8) to engine sides and (fitting the engine compartment fuel line to the Fuel Rail and vacuum line to the supercharger actuator valve. Reinstall the supercharger bypass solenoid valve electrical connector together with the air inlet temperature 2 sensor. To finish the process of installation place the charge air cooler front manifold assembly front section before mounting the sciap, baro and map sensors with their bracket while taking time to connect vacuum lines to both sensors. The procedure continues by attaching the electrical connectors to the sciap and baro and map sensors. The installation process includes front and rear sections of the supercharger inlet duct assembly and fuel fill pipe cap. Next steps require charge air cooling system coolant addition followed by fuel system leak inspection before engine sight shield installation.
