2006 Chevrolet Aveo Control Arm Bushing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear axle lower control arm bushing on 2006 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: In order to replace the rear axle lower Control Arm Bushing, start by raising and supporting the vehicle correctly. Lift up the rear axle and attach it to a workbench. Warm the area of the bushings in the rear axle, on the rear axle, to about 50-75° c (122-158° F) using an industrial hot air dryer. Mount the housing onto the rear axle using rear Control Arm Bushing servicing set ( J 29376-A). Use the Control Arm Bushing set j 21474-01 and the rear Control Arm Bushing servicing set (J 29376-A) to do the following: put the screw assembly (J 21474-19) through the bushing remover (J 29376-6-A), rear Control Arm Bushing, and finally put the receiver cap (J 29376-7). Place the long nut (J 21474-18) onto the screw assembly (J 21474-19) assembly and rotate screw assembly (J 21474-19) to partially remove bushing while being held by bushing (J 21381-19). Carefully remove the bushing by striking the bushing remover (J 29376-6-A) with the remover/installer (KM-266-A). In assembly, locate the housing on a rear axle using rear Control Arm Bushing servicing set (J 29376-A) and Control Arm Bushing set (J 21474-01). Slide the screw assembly (J 21474-19), through the thrust washer, then through the receiver cap(J 29376-7), the bushing, and the bushing installer (J 29376-6-A). Mount the long nut (j 21474-18) and turn while constraining the screw assembly (J 21474-19) with a bushing angle of 45 degrees (a) to the axis of the rear axle. The last step has been to install the rear axle and bring the vehicle down.
