2006 Chevrolet Corvette Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Begin Intake Manifold replacement by first removing the engine sight covers and draining the cooling system. First disconnect the electrical connector for fuel injectors while removing the connectors from the Throttle Body before removing Fuel Injector feed. To start the replacement process remove the vacuum hose from the Brake Booster before taking out the electrical connector from the manifold absolute pressure sensor and then proceed with the removal of the sensor and its grommet if required. Take out the evaporative emission (EVAP) clip (740) along with bolt (742) and bracket (741) and valve (730) along with tubes (729 and 735). First dismantle the bolts on the Intake Manifold (512) and then take out the fuel rail stop bracket (712) before you extract the Intake Manifold (500) which requires discarding the Intake Manifold gaskets (514). Install new Intake Manifold gaskets before placing the Intake Manifold on the engine while making sure to install fuel rail protection end brackets onto both right and left rear most Intake Manifold bolts. Wrap 0.20 inch (5 mm) of gm threadlocker gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) around the Intake Manifold bolts (512) threads before installing the fuel rail stop bracket (712). Tighten the Intake Manifold bolts in sequence first to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) the manifold bolts require an initial torque of 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) followed by a final torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Start by lubricating the MAP Sensor grommet (715) with engine oil. Then install the MAP Sensor (714) and grommet (715). Install the evap valve (730), bracket (741), and bolt (742), tightening the bolt to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.)next comes the fuel rail while evap tubes (729, 735) get installed afterward. Reset electrical power for the MAP Sensor and plug in the Brake Booster vacuum line and then attach Throttle Body electrical connections and Fuel Injector harness. Complete the process by adding coolant and installing engine viewing covers.
