• Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: To replace the Intake Manifold, remove first the engine sight covers drain the cooling system. First, remove the electrical connector 1 from the fuel injectors and disconnect connectors 3 in the Throttle Body, then remove the fuel feed for the fuel injectors. Remove the vacuum hose from Brake Booster and disengage the electrical connector from MAP Sensor connector located on the MAP Sensor also before removing it from the grommet (715) where required. Next, there is the removal of the evaporative emission (EVAP) clip (740), bolt (742), bracket (741), valve (730), and tubes (729, 735). Strip the Intake Manifold bolts (512) and the Fuel Rail stop bracket (712), and remove the Intake Manifold (500) and discard Intake Manifold gaskets (514). In installation, use new Intake Manifold gaskets (514) and install the Intake Manifold (500). Apply to the threads of the Intake Manifold bolts (512) a 5 mm (0.20 inch) band of threadlocker, gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489). Install the Intake Manifold bolts (512) and Fuel Rail stop bracket (712), and apply torque in the sequence seven and five n.m (60 and 44 inch lbs.) five pass and final pass to 10 n.m (89 inch lbs). Apply MAP Sensor grommet (715) with clean engine oil and install MAP Sensor (714) and the grommet (715). Install the evap (730), bracket, (741), and bolt (742) and tighten the bolt to the specified torque. Install the evap tubes (729, 735), the Fuel Rail, reconnect the electrical connector to the MAP Sensor, put the vacuum hose to the Brake Booster, and connect the electrical connectors 3 of the Throttle Body and 1 of the fuel injectors. Finally, top up the cooling system and secure the engine sight covers.
