• Q: How to replace the Multifunction Turn Signal Switch Housing on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?

  A: To replace the multifunction Turn Signal Switch housing, disconnect the negative Battery Cable of the vehicle and disable the sir system. Take off the Steering Wheel, sir coil, and steering column trim covers. Push the lock tabs out from the left and right multifunction levers and then unplug the housing electrical connectors. At the ignition housing, remove the lock housing bolts, and pull the ignition housing away from the multifunction lever bracket by sliding the bracket off the column. For installation, have the lock housing and multifunction lever bracket partially assembled, hand-tightening bolts with a 0.003 in (3.2 mm) clearance at the ends. Make sure the lock tab is completely inserted into the column slot and push the bracket onto the column hand tightening the lower and upper bolts until tight. Retighten the lower bolt to 8 nm (71 inch lbs.) and then the upper till the same specification. Join ignition housing electrical connectors by making sure the 2 locking tabs lock into position, then assembles multifunction levers, upper and lower shrouds, sir coil, and Steering Wheel. Finally, bring on the sir system and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
