2006 Chevrolet Malibu Brake Pedal Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Brake Pedal Assembly on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: You must unplug the brake apply sensor connector after taking off the knee bolster and closeout panel. Start by unplugging the brake apply sensor electrical connector then take out Steering Column and separate Brake Pedal pushrod retaining clip as well as the wave washers and brake booster pushrod from the Brake Pedal pin assembly. First take out the 2 nuts securing the Brake Pedal to the cowl and the 3 bolts joining it to the instrument panel (I/P) carrier then extract the Brake Pedal assembly from the vehicle. Reposition the Brake Pedal assembly into its slot and attach it using 3 i/p carrier bolts then tighten them to torque value 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) followed by tightening 2 cowl mounting nuts to torque value 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Connect the brake booster pushrod to the Brake Pedal pin through its wave washers and retaining clip before putting back the Steering Column assembly. Also join the brake apply sensor electrical connector. Install the knee bolster and closeout panel after adapting the Brake Pedal position sensor measurement.
