How to replace the thermostat (L61) on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?

To remove the Thermostat (L61), first, the system should be drained of the cooling system using proper procedures on the model. Then, unscrew bolts tightening the Thermostat Housing to the water pump feed pipe and then, after removing that, take off the Thermostat Housing . Gently extract the Thermostat and retaining sleeve and remember their position to reuse them. For the installation, apply the Thermostat and retaining sleeve within place with the dimple being aligned to the housing slot. Lubricating the o-rings with coolant alone prior to reinstalling the Thermostat Housing on the water pump feed pipe. Mount the bolts to fix the Thermostat Housing to the water pump feed pipe and tighten them to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Lastly, add water to your cooling system following the guidelines laid down for the model.
