  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
    A: In order to replace the Intake Manifold, ensure that the Throttle Body, fuel injectors, and the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose are removed from the Intake Manifold and from the booster check valve. Next remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) clean air tube from the air intake duct and valve rocker arm cover, as well as the pcv foul air tube from the Intake Manifold and valve rocker arm cover. Take off the evap purge soln id (EVAP) tube from the solenoid and place it again. To disconnect the electrical connectors for evap purge solenoid, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, oil pressure sensor, and valve lifter oil manifold. Get the MAP Sensor (714) from the Intake Manifold, then remove the evap purge solenoid value and bracket. Unscrew the Intake Manifold bolts (512) and take out the Intake Manifold (500), destroying the Intake Manifold gaskets (514). During installation, install the new Intake Manifold gaskets (514) and install a new Intake Manifold (500). Put a band of threadlock (GM P/N 12345382 (Can P/N 10953489) or equivalent) on the threads of the Intake Manifold bolts (512); later tighten in sequence to a tightness of 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) followed by 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Replace the evap purge solenoid bracket and solenoid, and the MAP Sensor (714) to Intake Manifold. Reconnect the evap purge solenoid, map sensor, oil pressure sensor and valve lifter oil manifold electical connectors. Mount and attach the evap purge solenoid tube to the solenoid, followed by installation of the pcv foul air tube to pcv and the Intake Manifold and valve rocker arm cover into place, and the pcv clean air tube to the air intake duct and valve rocker and arm cover. Finally, reconnect the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to the Intake Manifold and the booster check valve, apply fuel injectors and put back Throttle Body.
