  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
    A: In an effort to replace the Throttle Body assembly, first, the electronic throttle control parts must be handled with care so that they do not suffer damage, and no small hand tools should be used as wedges to hold open the throttle plate so as not to cause internal damage. Start by removing engine sight shield and the air cleaner outlet duct. Disconnect the throttle actuator control motor electrical connector and the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge tube from the Throttle Body. Next, take out the Throttle Body (508) bolts (538) and discard the Throttle Body Gasket (509). Using a new Throttle Body Gasket (509), and aligning the locating tab with the manifold notch ensure the manifold is pushed on evenly as being screwed into place. If necessary, apply a 1/4 turn of sealer around the manifold base. To install the Throttle Body, align the locating tab with the manifold notch and use a new Throttle Body Gasket (509). If this is not possible to determine, make certain the manifold is on evenly as being screwed into place with a few turns of sealer if necessary. Place the Throttle Body (508) on Intake Manifold and bolt on Throttle Body bolts (538) with tightening 10 n.m (89 lb in). Reconnect the evap canister purge tube and the throttle actuator control motor electrical connector making sure that the connector and seal are properly connected and undamaged. Replace the air cleaner outlet duct and the engine sight shield. Lastly, connect a scan tool to check throttle opening and closing ranges operate the accelerator pedal to check throttle angles, and ensure that the vehicle is not in reduced enginepower mode at the time of ignition, on & the engine, off.
