How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) in the 4L60-E/4L65-E/4L70-E automatic transmission on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?

You must take out the vehicle speed sensor assembly by first disconnecting the wiring harness and the bolt. Keep the O-ring seal when removing the sensor. Position the O-ring seal onto the vehicle speed sensor then apply transmission liquid to both before putting the sensor inside its housing. Thread in the bolt by 97 inch lbs (11 Nm) as marked in the Service Precautions notice for fasteners. Put the wiring harness back into its connection with the vehicle speed sensor before adding fluid when needed.
