2006 GMC Savana 3500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2006 GMC Savana 3500?
A: Before replacing the A/C accumulator it is essential to recover all refrigerant from the A/C system. The front evaporator tube should be removed first followed by loosening four nuts from the A/C accumulator while retaining both nuts and ferrules on the condenser tube. The next step involves taking out the A/C accumulator from the condenser tube. Place both O-rings on the incorrect system and position the A/C accumulator on the condenser tube while keeping its flow arrow facing toward the evaporator. The accumulator maintenance begins with securing its place by fastening and tightening the accumulator nuts to a torque level of 34 N.m (25 lb ft). After reinstalling the front evaporator tube complete the process with a system evacuation then recharge of the A/C followed by leak testing on components' fittings by using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
