2007 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace a Power Steering Reservoir on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Placing the hydraulic pump on a secure flat surface is the first step to reservoir replacement. It should face upward with the shaft pointed toward the ceiling. The screwdriver action on the retaining clip tab allows you to push it toward the outside position after which you can maneuver the reservoir clip past the hydraulic pump assembly. The second reservoir clip must be removed through the same process before the reservoir can be taken off the hydraulic pump housing. Discard the neck O-ring seal of the reservoir when removing it from its position on the reservoir neck or the hydraulic pump housing location. Remove two new retaining clips and then slot the reservoir clip over the reservoir neck before smearing the new O-ring seal with power steering fluid prior to placement on the reservoir neck. Install the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly by completely engaging its neck to it. Fit the reservoir feet to match the sides of the hydraulic pump housing while installing new reservoir retaining clips provided by the pump until the retaining clip tab locks into place on the pump housing.
