Power Steering Reservoir

The Power Steering Reservoir replacement starts by setting the hydraulic pump vertically on a level stationary surface with its shaft pointed upwards. A screwdriver should enter the retaining clip tab while applying force to push the reservoir clip toward the hydraulic pump assembly. Perform the same operation for the adjacent reservoir clip before taking out the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. You need to remove the O-ring seal either from the reservoir neck or hydraulic pump housing before discarding it. To install the new O-ring seal for the reservoir's neck you need to apply power steering fluid as lubrication before insertion and proper positioning. You need to place the reservoir on the hydraulic pump assembly but you must confirm its neck extends all the way out. Place the reservoir feet along the hydraulic pump housing sides and install the mount clips that came with the pump equipment before verifying complete tab engagement of the reservoir within the pump housing.

Start the Power Steering Reservoir servicing and repair by setting the hydraulic pump on a level stable surface with its shaft in an upward position. A screwdriver will help open the retaining clip tab while the steward slides the reservoir clip along the hydraulic pump assembly. Remove the second reservoir clip while repeating the process until the reservoir now exists from the hydraulic pump housing. Remove and dispose of the O-ring seal present at either the hydraulic pump housing or at the reservoir neck. Phase two of the installation requires power steering fluid application on the seal before installation on the reservoir neck. Install the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly while verifying the reservoir neck completely inserts into its position. Install new retaining clips as provided by the pump onto the reservoir feet but keep the clip tabs inside the hydraulic pump housing.

Place the hydraulic pump with its shaft elevated on a flat fixed location as the first step for reservoir replacement. You should use a screwdriver to activate the retaining clip tab while pulling the reservoir clip backward away from the hydraulic pump assembly. Remove the second reservoir clip through this sequence and afterward extract the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. The O-ring seal that protects the reservoir neck must be extracted from the opening either of the reservoir or hydraulic pump housing. Drip power steering fluid onto the neck of the reservoir before placing the new O-ring seal on its opening. Insert the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly while making sure that the reservoir neck undergoes complete entry. Secure the reservoir feet along the sides of the hydraulic pump housing before attaching the new retention clips provided with the pump unit. The retaining clip tabs should match the hydraulic pump housing perfectly.

Repeat the process to remove the second reservoir clip and then take out the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing.

Bleed the power steering system and inspect the system for leaks.

Install the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly, ensuring the reservoir neck is fully engaged.

Disconnect the power steering hoses from the power steering reservoir.

Install the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly, ensuring the reservoir neck is fully engaged.

Align the feet of the reservoir with the sides of the hydraulic pump housing and install the new reservoir retaining clips, ensuring the retaining clip tabs fully engage with the hydraulic pump housing.
