- Q: How to Replace a Power Steering Hose on a 3.6L LY7 Engine on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?A: Changing the power steering pressure pipe/hose of a 3.6l ly7 engine requires removing the fuel injector sight shield and engine mount struts together with brackets. One engine mount strut bolt along with the nut needs to return to support the front section of the engine. Detach the electrical clips that connect to uhjb and coolant housing equipment and also disconnect the ecm. The replacement process requires removing the coolant recovery reservoir together with the Power Steering Reservoir and its bracket but documenting the fastener specifications. Use the engine support fixture hook to connect with the Power Steering Reservoir bracket which should be attached to the cylinder head with m6 bolt torques set at 9 n.m (80 lb in) and m8 bolt torques set at 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Start by supporting the vehicle and removing the rh tire with wheel assembly followed by removing the rh engine splash shield as well as steering gear heat shield. Lower the vehicle after lowering its rh engine mount lower nuts and lh transmission mount lower nuts to reach the engine support fixture tool installing position. Lift up the engine allow the rh engine mount studs to disconnect from the cradle while maintaining safety for the wheel drive shaft constant velocity joint. Put a drain pan under the attachment of the Power Steering Hose then remove the rh engine mount/bracket assembly from the vehicle. The power steering pressure hose requires removal from both power steering components by disconnecting clips on the back right side of the cradle and gear. Proceed to detach the pressure hose from outside the vehicle. New quick connector fittings should be used at the Power Steering Pump during installation while tightening them to 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Fasten the power steering pressure hose on the steering gear using hand-tightening with correct hose routing. Connect the Power Steering Hose to the gear while securing it with fittings at 27 n.m (20 lb ft) then reinstall the heat shield. Start by reinstalling the rh engine mount at the same time as carefully lowering the vehicle to align powertrain mount studs before installing both rh and lh engine mount lower nuts. The reinstall operations start with the rh engine splash shield followed by the tire-wheel assembly and then drainage of the pan. Remove the engine support fixture once the vehicle reaches this position. The Power Steering Reservoir needs attachment to its bracket which should be fastened with 6 n.m (53 lb in) torque while the cylinder head reservoir bracket needs to be secured with the specified torque setting. Before reinstallation proceed with the coolant recovery reservoir followed by engine mount struts and fuel injector sight shield and finish by adding power steering fluid for bleeding before leak inspection.
