  A: You should not remove the screws from the upper air cleaner cover when you begin to change the Air Filter. Use screws to open the air cleaner cover then immediately disconnect the secondary air injection hose quick connect if your car has this system. Open the air cleaner cover while removing the Air Filter from its place inside the air cleaner. Check the air cleaner housing assembly for any damage before proceeding. Issues with the air cleaner require immediate replacement but note the air cleaner cover contains an unserviceable hydro carbon adsorber that needs replacement when damaged. Place the new Air Filter into the air cleaner then close the air cleaner cover by making sure the inboard hinges connect before tightening all screws. If your vehicle comes with an air cleaner you must reconnect the air hose quick connect fitting before tightening air cleaner cover screws to 3 n.m (27 lb in).
