2007 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Fuel Level Sensor in the fuel sender assembly with RPO code NT7 on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
A: Before starting the replacement of nt7 rpo Fuel Level Sensor you need to empty fuel system pressure. Start by removing the liner from the rear compartment while also removing the Fuel Level Sensor access hole cover by taking out the cover bolts. The sensor requires disconnecting of both its fuel feed rear pipe quick connect fitting and its pressure sensor as well as Fuel Level Sensor wiring harness electrical connectors (1, 2). Slide the fuel feed pipe and harness connectors to a different position before putting on the Fuel Level Sensor lock ring wrench (J 45722) to the lock ring without injuring it. Touching the Fuel Level Sensor through its fuel pipes should be avoided since this can lead to damage. Be cautious when separating the Fuel Level Sensor because its reservoir bucket contains fuel which needs slight tipping to protect the float. The installation requires new replacement of the Fuel Level Sensor o-ring seal. Remove the fuel pump level sensor o-ring seal from the setup and check the condition of the lock ring before inspecting. You should change the lock ring when warpage measurements exceed 0.41 mm (0.016 in). To install the fuel pump level sensor o-ring seal insert a new seal at the Fuel Tank aperture and slowly drop in the sensor while keeping it tilted to access the opening. Utilize the Fuel Level Sensor lock ring wrench (J 45722) to position the sensor lock ring through clockwise rotation. The installation requires reattaching the Fuel Level Sensor wiring harness electrical connectors (1, 2) in conjunction with the fuel feed rear pipe quick connect fitting. After connecting the negative Battery Cable the ignition should be turned on for leaking verification while the Fuel Level Sensor access hole cover is reinstalled along with its bolts which should maintain 2 n.m (18 lb in) torque before reinstalling the rear compartment liner and intake manifold cover.
