2007 Buick Rainier Timing Cover Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2007 Buick Rainier?
A: Before replacing the engine front cover, drain the engine coolant. Next came the removal of the cooling fan and shroud, Drive Belt, water pump, crankshaft balancer, and the Power Steering Pump. Lift the vehicle and take away the Oil Pan, then bring the vehicle down. Take out the 7 mm center bolt and loosen the rest of the engine front cover bolts. Depress the jack screw holes and install 2 frontcover bolts to the front cover that has the j44219 cover alignment pins (j44219) then tightened evenly to loosening of the front cover from the engine. Remove two bolts of front cover and Oil Pump, and clean and inspect the front cover. For installation, install a 3 mm (0.12 inch) bead of sealer to the trace grooves on the back side of the engine front cover and on the inside of the 3 bolt hole bosses. Race the Oil Pump to the crankshaft sprocket splines and fit the front cover securing it with the center bolt last to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Unbolt the j43219, lift the vehicle once more, and install the Oil Pan. Lower the car and put on the Power Steering Pump, crankshaft balancer, water pump, Drive Belt, and lastly, the cooling fan and shroud. Fill the engine with the coolant to finalize the process.
