2007 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The procedure starts by taking out the hvac module assembly and then the air inlet housing screws that lead to the removal of the air inlet housing. The next step involves removing the bracket screws from the right side hvac module assembly mounting bracket while also removing both the bracket along with the upper retaining screw that rests beneath it. You must first remove the hvac module assembly together with the dash panel sound barrier seal before unfastening the heater outlet duct retaining screws and extracting the duct. The installation requires removing the Heater Core cover screws and the cover before the Heater Core pipe retaining screw and Heater Core itself, while understanding that the lower hvac module assembly retaining screw exists under the Heater Core. The Evaporator core removal involves disconnecting the lower retaining screw and all remaining screws to divide the upper and lower hvac module halves before removing the Evaporator core from the upper half. Additionally workers extract the Evaporator temperature sensor and thermal expansion valve txv by removing its mounting screws until the txv detaches from the Evaporator core. The installation process requires filling a new Evaporator core with the defined pag oil amount but you must tighten the Evaporator line seals with new washers before mounting the txv to the core and implementing 3.2 n.m (28 lb in) torque on the mounting screws. Mount the Evaporator temperature sensor at 3.5 cm (1.4 in) distance from the side and 5 cm (2 in) distance from the bottom corner of the Evaporator core and run its wires through the opening of the upper hvac module case to prevent wire damage. Place the Evaporator core within the upper hvac module half case section before installing the upper case to the base case and tightening all lower module assembly retaining screws to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Then install the lower retaining screw. The Heater Core assembly goes back into place while its pipe retaining screw reaches 0.9 n.m (8 lb in) torque setting before attaching the Heater Core cover screws with the same torque value. Position and secure the heater outlet duct using 0.9 n.m (8 lb in) torque followed by attachments of the hvac module assembly to dash panel sound barrier seal and upper retaining screw at 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). The right side hvac module assembly requires mounting brackets with screws to be installed along with bracket screws tightened to 1.8 n.m (16 lb in). Afterward, attach the air inlet housing to the hvac module by securing it with retaining screws tightened to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in) to finish the hvac module assembly installation.
