2007 Cadillac DTS Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2007 Cadillac DTS?
A: The first step for replacing the Fuel Rail assembly involves draining the fuel system pressure. The Fuel Rail assembly requires cleaning with gm x-30a spray type engine cleaner or an equivalent product as liquid cleaning solvents will damage the assembly. The procedure starts by disconnecting the fuel feed tube quick connect from its Fuel Rail position while the positive crankcase ventilation air tube quick connect disconnection takes place from the camshaft cover before extracting the surge tank inlet hose from the tank and engine attachment points after relocating the clamp positions. Use a socket to remove the surge tank inlet pipe nuts while separating the Fuel Rail stud-attached surge tank inlet pipe. The engine harness electrical connectors must be disconnected from the starter solenoid cable and both front and rear fuel injectors and the engine harness clip needs to be removed from the Fuel Rail stud before setting the harness aside. Remove the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut while also separating the Fuel Rail studs until you can take out the Fuel Rail that requires disposal of the o-ring seals which were on its spray tip end. Before inserting the Fuel Rail the technician should place new o-ring seals on the spray tip end of each Fuel Injector while applying clean engine oil to new lower injector o-ring seals. You should tighten both the Fuel Rail studs and the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut to the exact torque value of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Use the engine harness to place the harness above the motor and insert the engine harness clip into the Fuel Rail stud. Reconnect the engine harness electrical connectors to both the rear and front fuel injectors as well as the starter solenoid cable. Reinstall the surge tank inlet pipe by attaching it to the Fuel Rail studs through its nuts then install its hose by connecting it to engine fittings and surge tank while double checking the hose clamps for the correct placement. Secure the pcv air tube with the quick connect fitting to the camshaft cover next to connecting the fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting to the Fuel Rail before attaching the negative Battery Cable. The procedure to check fuel leaks requires a combination of ignition on with engine stop for 2 seconds followed by 10-second ignition off then ignition on while leaking inspection before installing the Fuel Injector sight shield.
