2008 Cadillac DTS Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2008 Cadillac DTS?
A: Start the replacement of the Fuel Rail assembly by draining fuel system pressure with either the fuel pressure relief (With CH 48027) or fuel pressure relief (Without CH 48027). Cleaning of the Fuel Rail assembly requires gm x-30a spray type engine cleaner or equivalent product that should not be submerged in cleaning liquid. Complete the replacement by disconnecting the quick connect fitting of fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail assembly and the pcv air tube quick connect fitting from the camshaft cover. Take off the surge tank inlet pipe hose from both surge tank and engine fitting and the hose clamps located on the inlet pipe before unfastening the inlet pipe nuts to disassemble the Fuel Rail studs. The first step consists of removing the starter solenoid cable and both front and rear fuel injectors electrical connectors from the engine harness while detaching the harness clip from the Fuel Rail stud then placing the harness beside. First detach the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut before taking out the Fuel Rail studs which enables the removal of the Fuel Rail after discarding the o-ring seals from each Fuel Injector at its spray tip end. When installing the Fuel Rail you must mount the fuel injectors onto the spray tip end using new o-ring seals while applying clean engine oil on the new o-ring seals before rail installation. At first install the Fuel Rail studs securely with 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque setting and then apply the same torque value to tighten the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut. You should position the harness over the engine before installing the engine harness clip to the Fuel Rail stud and connecting the engine harness electrical connectors to the rear and front fuel injectors and starter solenoid cable. Secure the inlet pipe to Fuel Rail studs with its nuts before attaching the hose between the engine fitting and surge tank while verifying proper positioning of clamps. The quick connection on the pcv air tube should lead to the camshaft cover while the quick connection on the fuel feed pipe should link up with the Fuel Rail. Finish the procedure by connecting the negative Battery Cable and conducting a leak inspection through an on-off-ignition cycle followed by checking for any indications of leakage. The final installation step should include the Fuel Injector sight shield.
