2007 Cadillac Escalade Cam Gear Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Cam Gear Actuator on 2007 Cadillac Escalade?
A: The replacement process of Camshaft position actuator starts by removing the Oil Pump. The Camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid valve (234) should be discarded as a next step. Deliberately handling the reluctor wheel on the cmp actuator poses a risk of injuring personnel because it holds three roll pins. The cmp actuator together with Timing Chain need to be separated from the Camshaft before removing cmp actuator (235) along with the Timing Chain (208). The actuator demands a tie strap to pass through its center straight to the reluctor wheel. When installing the component use en 46330 (Timing Belt Tensioner Retaining Pin) while compressing the Timing Chain tensioner guide. The cmp actuator needs to occupy its position on the Camshaft locating pin as the Timing Chain teeth engage each other while both sprocket alignment marks on the Camshaft and crankshaft sprockets should match up. Place the cmp actuator onto the Camshaft while matching its rear hole with the locating pin. To check proper installation inspectors should use a straight edge on the front surface of the engine block. Secure the new cmp actuator solenoid valve (234) using hand torque until it reaches proper tightness. The alignment check starts with inspecting the sprockets where the cmp actuator sprocket mark will face 6 o'clock while the crankshaft sprocket mark faces 12 o'clock. Use the j 45059 (Angle Meter) to tighten the cmp actuator solenoid valve by 90 degrees after an initial step of tightening it to 65 n.m (48 lb ft). Finally, reinstall the Oil Pump.
