2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT?
A: The automatic transmission flexplate demands removal before proceeding with crankshaft rear oil seal replacement. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal (141) during the next step. When installing the oil seal check its orientation because the part number markings must face the opposite direction of the engine. First run a check to verify the oil seal has correct orientation placement. Use Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer cone (J 41479) with bolts to secure against the crankshaft rear while gently tightening them without exceeding recommended torque. Push the rear oil seal onto the tapered cone before you insert it into the rear seal bore. The tapered cone of J 41479 accepts the threaded rod until the rod reaches the oil seal while the tool aligns the seal into position. Turn the handle of the tool by rotating it clockwise while it drives the seal toward complete placement inside the rear cover. The automatic transmission flexplate must be reinstalled after removing the J 41479 tool.
