In order to replace the crankshaft rear oil seal, do the following: remove the engine fly-wheel, and then remove the crankshaft rear oil seal from the rear cover. As part of installation, make sure that the
Flywheel spacer (if it exists) is off, and do not lubricate the inside diameter (ID) of the oil seal or the surface of the crankshaft; the crankshaft rear oil seal should not be reinstalled. Apply a clean engine oil to lubricate the outside diameter (OD) of the oil seal, making sure there is no oil or any other dressings on the oil seal surface. Also apply some clean engine oil to the bore in the rear cover to prevent it from touching the surface of the crankshaft. Next, mount j 41479 tapered cone and bolts on the rear of the crankshaft and tighten until snug without overtightening them. Mount the rear oil seal onto the tapered cone and press it to the rear cover bore. Thread the j 41479 threaded rod through the tapered cone until the contact of the tool with the oil seal, then align the oil seal into tool. Twist the handle of the tool clockwise until the seal comes into the rear cover and bottoms thereinto the cover bore. Lastly, take out the j 41479 and install the engine Flywheel again.
