• Q: How to replace the liftgate hinges on 2007 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Mark the liftgate hinge positions using a grease pencil before you start the replacement work. Pull out the grommet from the top right edge of the vehicle before taking off the electrical connector and washer tube. Unplug the two connectors from the top left corner grommet before taking it out. Elevate the liftgate and remove its upper support rods from the ball joints. Pull open the access panels on top of the header trim to unfasten the nuts that secure the liftgate hinge to the vehicle. With help secure the liftgate removal and detach the hinge bolts on both liftgate sides until the hinges can be taken off. Position both liftgate hinge locations beneath the specified marks on the vehicle and install bolts to fix them in place. Tighten liftgate nuts to 25 N.m pressure. Help to put the liftgate back into place once you fasten it with its hinge nuts. After putting back access door panels use the ball stud to connect liftgate assist rods before taking out the liftgate support. First plug the electrical connectors into the two ports at the upper left side. Then insert a grommet in that space before connecting the washer hose and electrical connector to the upper right corner and adding its grommet. Finally, close the liftgate.
