• Q: How to Replace a Thermostat Housing (LH2) on 2007 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Complete draining of the cooling system stands as the initial requirement for Thermostat Housing (LH2) replacement. Start by taking off the Throttle Body and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor followed by separating the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve hose from its electrical connector. The surge tank inlet hose along with bypass hose radiator inlet hose heater outlet hose heater inlet hose must be removed from the Thermostat Housing and thermostat through clamp compression. After untightening the intake manifold duct clamp you must remove bolts (1, 2) securing the Thermostat Housing to the cylinder heads before carefully removing the housing from the vehicle. Throw away the aged gaskets and wipe down the Thermostat Housing then inspect it thoroughly. To perform installation properly remove the intake manifold inlet duct and clamp along with surge tank inlet hose fitting and heater inlet hose fitting and evap canister purge solenoid valve from the Thermostat Housing. Secure the Thermostat Housing by tightening the manifold inlet duct clamp to 6 n.m (53 lb in) and surge tank inlet hose fitting to 18 n.m (13 lb ft) and heater inlet hose fitting to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) and the evap canister purge solenoid valve bolt to 12 n.m (106 lb in). All bolts fit new Thermostat Housing gaskets except for one bolt which requires a 10 mm longer length. After securing the Thermostat Housing to the vehicle tighten its bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Securely attach the intake manifold duct clamp by using a 6 n.m torque wrench (53 lb in torque setting). Use clamp compression to install all heating components including heater inlet hose and radiator inlet hose and heater outlet hose and bypass hose and surge tank inlet hose. Reinstall the evap canister purge solenoid valve hose while reconnecting its electrical connector. Also reinstall the MAP Sensor alongside the Throttle Body. Finally, fill the cooling system.
