2007 Cadillac XLR Flywheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What tools are required to service and repair the flex plate and replace the engine flywheel on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: The service and repair of the flex plate with engine Flywheel replacement requires two essential tools which are j 45059 angle meter (J 45059) and snap-on(TM) a144a Flywheel turner (A144A). Start the procedure by eliminating both the powertrain combined with the driveline support assembly. The engine Flywheel bolts and Flywheel need extraction while the snap-on(TM) a144a Flywheel turner (A144A) maintains the engine from rotating. Pre-isolation inspection of the engine Flywheel must occur before sealant application onto the Flywheel mounting bolts because mounting the Flywheel requires proper positioning to the Crankshaft. Use the snap-on(TM) a144a Flywheel turner (A144A) to stop the engine from spinning during the installation of the Flywheel mounting bolts. The first bolt tightening step involves using a torque wrench to set the Flywheel mounting bolts at 30 n.m (22 lb ft) then finishing with an extra 50 degree turn using the j 45059 angle meter (J 45059). Reinstall both the driveline support assembly together with the powertrain unit.
