2007 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the camshaft on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Start Camshaft replacement by unfastening the Timing Belt then the engine cover bolts and removing the engine cover. The valve cover requires tube disconnections of both the breather tube and crankcase ventilation tube while removing the Camshaft position (CMP) sensor connector along with ignition wires from Spark Plug connections. The operation requires you to unscrew the valve cover bolts and remove the valve cover along with its gasket while avoiding damage to both Camshaft lobes and bearing areas. The mechanic should use their hands to stabilize the intake Camshaft before loosening and removing both the intake Camshaft gear bolt and subsequently the intake Camshaft gear. Follow the same procedure for removing the exhaust Camshaft components. You should execute the removal sequence for Camshaft cap bolts before extracting all intake Camshaft caps while retaining their proper arrangement for reinstallation followed by the intake Camshaft followed by exhaust Camshaft caps and exhaust Camshaft. Lubricate all engine oil components of the Camshaft before placing the intake Camshaft in its original positions and securing it with intake Camshaft cap bolts. Tighten the exhaust Camshaft cap bolts after installing the correct sequence of exhaust Camshaft and its respective caps. Follow the specified bolt sequence when you tighten Camshaft cap bolts to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Install the intake Camshaft gear onto its recipient surface then fasten it with an intake Camshaft gear bolt set to 67.5 n.m torque (49 lb ft). Continue with the procedure for mounting and installing the exhaust Camshaft gear. First place the valve cover and apply a gasket then add the valve cover washers and nuts before tightening them to 9 n.m (80 lb in). The engine cover and ignition wires together with cmp sensor must be reattached while tightening Spark Plug cover bolts to 3 n.m (27 lb in). The last step includes fitting the Oil Filler Cap before you connect the vacuum line and join the air breather tube to the valve cover and reattach the Timing Belt.
