2006 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the camshaft on 2006 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The first step to replace the Camshaft demands removal of Timing Belt and engine cover bolts followed by the engine cover itself. Before starting the Camshaft replacement, disconnect the breather tube and crankcase ventilation tube from the valve cover and the igniter and breather tubes from both the spark plugs and the Camshaft position sensor. The next action is to remove all valve cover bolts followed by removing the valve cover together with its gasket. Carefully remove the Camshaft while maintaining support for both the intake Camshaft and its gear bolt separately before removing the bolt and gear. After securing the exhaust Camshaft in position the worker should remove the Camshaft gear bolt and exhaust Camshaft gear. Start by removing the specified sequence of Camshaft cap bolts and proceed to remove intake Camshaft caps before keeping them in position for later assembly alongside the intake Camshaft and exhaust Camshaft caps along with their respective exhaust camshafts. Apply engine oil to both the Camshaft journals and caps before reinstalling the intake camshafts and their caps according to their original positions followed by the cap bolts installation. Set the exhaust Camshaft into position followed by installation of its caps while torquing them down with cap bolts. Apply torque to the Camshaft cap bolts starting from the specified sequence until reaching 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Afterward, check the amount of end play in the intake and exhaust camshafts. Fasten the intake Camshaft gear using its bolt at 67.5 nm (49 ft. Lbs.) then proceed to install and torque the exhaust Camshaft gear and its corresponding bolt. Attach the valve cover onto the engine block then apply the gasket along with the washers and nuts before torquing the valve cover nuts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs). Attach the ignition wires before uniting the cmp sensor and engine cover and its bolts and firmly fasten the Spark Plug cover bolts to 3 nm (27 inch lbs.). The last step includes attaching the valve cover breather tube then reinstalling the Timing Belt and adding the Oil Filler Cap with a connected vacuum line.
