Q: How to replace the crankshaft on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To install a new Crankshaft, you will need to gather a set of tools including: the overhauling stand is labeled otc 1726 (KM 412) engine overhaul stand, j 42492-a (KM 421-A) timing belt adjuster, j 45059 angle meter, km-470-b angular torque gage, and j 36972 (KM 635) Crankshaft rear oil seal installer. Cautiously remove the engine, flywheel bolts and fly wheel as well as the Crankshaft rear oil seal. Mount the engine assembly on otc 1726, and thereafter, remove the upper and lower front timing belts cover bolts and covers. Loosen the Water Pump retaining bolts and remove tension from the Timing Belt using j43292-a. Unplug the crank case ventilation tubes, bolts for the engine cover, ignition wires, and then remove the valve cover and its components. While operating the intake and exhaust camshafts, loosen their bolts and gears, timing belt automatic tensioner and idler pulley. Remove crank shaft Timing Belt gear, timing belt rear cover, oil pan, oil pickup tube and Oil Pump. Remove and mark the connecting rod and Crankshaft bearing caps, sample, and remove the Crankshaft and upper bearings. Clean the parts when necessary; then one can install the Crankshaft and bearings, verifying the clearances, and end play. Apply adhesive sealing compound on rear Crankshaft bearing cap grooves and install the Crankshaft bearings and secure them by using new bolts with 50n.m (37 lb ft) and additional 45 degrees using the j 45059 or km 470 b; install the connecting rod bearings and caps with new bolts tightening the same torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and finally additional 30 degree + 15-degree. Unscrew the Oil Pump and its retaining bolts, securing them at 10 n.m (89 lb in); the oil pickup tube and bolts. Mount the Oil Pan on the gasket making sure it is done in the 5 minutes' limit after the application of liquid gasket and tightening with retaining bolts. To rotate the engine on the otc 1726, install the rear Timing Belt cover and its bolts as well as the Crankshaft Timing Belt gear and automatic tensioner on your engine. Tighten the tensioner bolts with a torque of 25 n.m (18 lb ft) as well as install the Timing Belt Idler Pulley and bolt. Carefully install the intake and exhaust Camshaft gears, tighten their bolts to 67.5 n.m (49 lb ft). Inject some gasket sealant on the valve cover areas before repositioning the valve cover and tightening it using washers and nuts. Connect the ignition wires, the engine cover and its bolts and then connect the crankcase ventilation tube and also replace the front Timing Belt cover. Install the Power Steering Pump and mount it with bolts, if available. Finally, use the j 36972 (KM 635) to install a new Crankshaft rear oil seal, reinstall the Flywheel and for its bolts and tightening them to 35 n.m (25 lb ft) and an additional 30 degrees plus 15 degrees using the j 45059 or km-470-b then finish the installation of the engine.
