  • Q: What tools are required to replace the crankshaft on 2008 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: These tools are necessary to change the Crankshaft along with repairing the Crankshaft requires use of the otc 1726 (KM 412) engine overhaul stand and j 42492-a (KM 421-A) timing belt adjuster alongside j 45059 angle meter and km-470-b angular torque gage along with j 36972 (KM 635) Crankshaft rear oil seal installer. Otc 1726 (KM 412) engine overhaul stand, j 42492-a (KM 421-A) timing belt adjuster, j 45059 angle meter, km-470-b angular torque gage, and j 36972 (KM 635) Crankshaft rear oil seal installer. Start your work by unbolting the engine then removing the Flywheel bolts followed by deletion of the Flywheel and Crankshaft rear oil seal. Insert the engine assembly onto the otc 1726 before using a tool to remove both upper and lower front Timing Belt cover bolts then their corresponding covers. Use j 42492-a to rotate the Water Pump while loosening its retaining bolts thereby reducing Timing Belt tension until complete removal. Begin by removing crankcase ventilation tubes and engine cover bolts with ignition wires before taking off the valve cover and its components. Uninstall all intake and exhaust Camshaft bolts and gears and then move onto the Timing Belt automatic tensioner and idler pulley. Start by dissociating the Crankshaft Timing Belt gear then move to the rear Timing Belt cover and afterward remove the Oil Pan and oil pickup tube and Oil Pump. You should mark and remove the connecting rod bearing caps and Crankshaft bearing caps prior to extracting the Crankshaft and upper Crankshaft bearings. Wash the parts when needed before installing the Crankshaft and bearings while double-checking for clearance and end play measurements. Add adhesive sealing compound to the rear Crankshaft bearing cap before you install new bolts to secure the Crankshaft bearings and Crankshaft bearing caps with j 45059 or km-470-b torque specifications. Next install the connecting rod bearings with new bolts followed by the Oil Pump and its retaining bolts. Screw in the Oil Pan gasket followed by the oil pickup tube and tightening bolts until all fasteners reach the correct torque. The vehicle's engine should first receive rotation using the otc 1726 before crew members install the rear Timing Belt cover with its bolts along with the Crankshaft Timing Belt gear and Timing Belt automatic tensioner. Nation and bolt the Timing Belt idler pulley while maintaining suitable bolt torque. After installing the intake and exhaust Camshaft gear bolts you should install the Timing Belt while adjusting its proper tension. Seal the valve cover area with gasket sealant before placing the valve cover with its components along with ignition wire reconnection and engine cover installation. The installation process ends by connecting the crankcase ventilation tube followed by the front Timing Belt cover along with the Power Steering Pump if present. Then remove the engine from the otc 1726 to install a new Crankshaft rear oil seal using j 36972 or km-635 while tightening the Flywheel bolts to specification.
