2007 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the timing belt on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: The first step for Timing Belt replacement includes disconnecting the negative Battery Cable together with the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector and the air intake tube from the Throttle Body and breather tube from the valve cover. Begin by removing the air filter housing bolts then remove the air filter housing after which you can proceed to take off the right front wheel together with the splash shield. The worker must first take off the accessory Drive Belt and Crankshaft Pulley bolt, plus the Crankshaft Pulley. To access the front Timing Belt covers remove all bolts located on their upper and lower sections. Technically equipped vehicles must lose their Power Steering Pump mounting bolts before moving forward. Narrowly fit the Crankshaft Pulley bolt along with a clockwise Crankshaft turn so that the Crankshaft gear timing mark matches up with the timing mark found at the bottom of the rear Timing Belt cover. Use the Timing Belt adjuster (J 42492-A) to turn the coolant pump counterclockwise until the Timing Belt tension releases but keep the Timing Belt behind the Power Steering Pump. While doing this step loosen the coolant pump retaining bolts slightly. Installation involves positioning the Crankshaft gear timing mark against the rear Timing Belt cover timing mark when the exhaust camshaft gear appears at the 11 o'clock spot along with proper alignment of camshaft gear timing marks for new Timing Belt placement. Tighten the coolant pump retaining bolts after rotating it clockwise through the Timing Belt adjuster (J 42492-A) so the adjust arm pointer of the Timing Belt automatic tensioner reaches the Timing Belt automatic tensioner bracket notch. Adjust the coolant pump clockwise through the Crankshaft Pulley bolt so that the adjust arm pointer on the Timing Belt automatic tensioner bracket matches its pointer. Then tighten the bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). First unfasten the Crankshaft Pulley bolt then install front Timing Belt covers in an upper and lower position and secure their bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Apply 95 n.m (70 lb ft) torque to the Crankshaft Pulley bolt using a torque wrench before tightening the bolt an additional 30 degrees followed by an additional 15 degrees through the use of the angle meter (J 45059) or the angular torque gage (KM-470-B). If equipped with an accessory Drive Belt it needs replacement along with installation of the right front splash shield and the right front wheel. The procedure ends by reinstalling air filter housing bolts while torquing to 8 n.m (71 lb in) then reconnecting air intake tube and breather tube and iat sensor connector and the negative Battery Cable.
