2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: You need to secure the Crankshaft rotation before inserting compressed air into the cylinder using the flywheel holding tool j 43653 to stop damages. Place cars with manual transmission in first gear and engage the hand brake while automatic transmission vehicles must remove the Starter. Start by placing the flywheel holding tool j43653 on and take out the Camshaft followed by all Camshaft roller followers. Use the valve spring compressor tool j 43649 to install on the cylinder head and remove all spark plugs. Connect an air hose adapter into each Spark Plug hole to push 690 kpa pressure (100 psi) through the cylinder. After compressing the valve spring you can remove its keepers and spring from the valve seat. First push the valve seal out with valve guide seal remover (J 36017). After removing the valve seal with valve guide seal remover (J 36017), put in the new valve seal before installing the valve spring and once more compressing it to set valve spring keepers. Reinstall the spark plugs and the Camshaft components when you unplug the air hose adaptor from the Spark Plug opening and detach the valve spring compressor (J 43649). Afterward install the Starter back and delete the flywheel holding tool j 43653 from your use.
